VWPS Helped Family Facing Domestic Violence in Lahore

LAHORE Domestic Violence

A brave young girl called Emergency 15 to protect her mother and siblings from domestic violence. VWPS coordinated a swift police response in Tajpura, Lahore, helping the family reach safety.

As evening settled over Tajpura, Lahore, a family was facing a terrifying situation behind closed doors. A father’s anger had escalated into violence against his wife. When their young daughter tried to intervene, she too was assaulted, suffering a head injury that left her bleeding. Her younger brother watched in distress as the violence continued.

Frightened and in pain, the girl made a courageous decision. She reached for a phone and called Emergency 15, pleading for help for herself, her mother, and her younger sibling.

Her call was connected to the Virtual Women Police Station (VWPS), where an officer immediately recognized the urgency of the situation. A child had reported ongoing domestic violence, and immediate police assistance was needed.

A Swift and Coordinated Police Response

Recognizing the seriousness of the incident, VWPS coordinated an urgent police response. The caller’s location was traced, and a police team was dispatched on priority to the residence in Tajpura.

When officers arrived, they found the mother with visible bruises, the young girl suffering from a head injury, and the younger sibling visibly distressed. The father remained aggressive.

The responding officers intervened, restrained the accused, and secured the household. The victims were separated from the aggressor and provided protection. Medical attention was also arranged to address the girl’s injury and the family’s immediate needs.

From Silence to Legal Action

Following the incident, an FIR was registered under the relevant provisions of law. Subsequent inquiry indicated that the family had allegedly endured repeated physical abuse over several months.

Fear, financial dependence, and social stigma can prevent victims from reporting violence, particularly when the abuse occurs within their own homes. This case demonstrates why domestic violence must be taken seriously and why access to timely police assistance is essential.

The girl’s decision to seek help turned a frightening moment into an opportunity for protection and legal action. Her experience also highlights the importance of public awareness about Emergency 15 and the Virtual Women Police Station.

Citizen Feedback

“I was scared but I called Emergency 15 to save my mother and siblings. By the grace of Allah, the police reached quickly and protected us. I am thankful to VWPS for responding immediately and stopping the violence.”

The Virtual Women Police Station exists to make police assistance more accessible, particularly when women and vulnerable individuals are unable to visit a police station safely.
