Learn how the Virtual Women Police Station helped a 16-year-old girl facing emotional distress, depression and pressure at home in Sargodha.
During an evening journey through Sargodha, a bus driver noticed a 16-year-old girl sitting quietly with her schoolbag on her lap. She appeared distressed and had remained seated for several stops.
Concerned about her well-being, the driver gently asked where she needed to go. Her quiet response raised further concern: "I don't have a home to go to."
Recognising that the girl might need assistance, the driver recalled public awareness messages about Emergency Helpline 15 and the importance of reporting situations involving vulnerable individuals. Rather than ignoring the situation, he contacted Emergency Helpline 15 and shared his concerns with the authorities.
Following the report, emergency personnel coordinated the response to help ensure the girl's safety. The bus route was identified through digital coordination, and police personnel were directed to reach the next stop.
In the meantime, the police dispatcher remained in contact with the driver and advised him to keep the girl calm while assistance was on the way.
Within minutes, police officers arrived at the bus stop. They approached the girl with care and sensitivity, allowing her an opportunity to share her concerns without fear of judgement.
During the interaction, the girl expressed concerns about family pressure and emotional distress. Taking her situation and need for protection into account, the authorities arranged for her to be taken to Dar-ul-Aman, where she could receive a safe environment and complete support.
The timely response helped ensure that the girl received protection and assistance when she appeared to be in a vulnerable situation. Instead of ignoring her distress, the people involved took her concerns seriously and sought help through the appropriate emergency channel.
This incident highlights how public awareness, responsible citizenship and timely police assistance can contribute to the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals. It also demonstrates the importance of responding to concerns with compassion, sensitivity and respect for personal dignity.
Community safety begins when people take notice of situations where someone may need help and choose to act responsibly. Noticing signs of distress and reporting a genuine concern can help authorities assess a situation and determine whether assistance is needed.
If you encounter a child or another vulnerable person who may be at risk, do not ignore the situation or make assumptions. Contact Emergency Helpline 15 to report your concern so the authorities can assess the circumstances and take appropriate action.
